SHELLIE BOWLIN – Executive Director
Shellie is a graduate of South Caldwell High School and of Guilford College with dual degrees in Psychology and Political Science, with a concentration in Organizational Communications. She has 20 years’ experience in services to children and families, as well as experience with nonprofit leadership. Prior to accepting the Executive Director position at Robin’s Nest, she was the Program Director for the Wilkes County CAC, SAFE Spot. She has been at Robin’s Nest since 2017.
APRIL STARNES – Administrative Assistant/Finance Manager
April Starnes is a 1990 graduate of South Caldwell High School and 1993 graduate of CCC&TI with an Associates Degree in Nursing. After working as a Registered Nurse for several years, she and her husband, Patrick, founded a heating and air conditioning company, which they owned and operated for 20 years. She is a licensed general contractor and built several houses between 1999 and 2007. April has been working with Robin’s Nest since September 2019. April and her husband reside in Granite Falls with their daughters, Savannah and Lyndsey, where they continue a family tradition of managing their family farm of cattle and crop production of wheat, soybeans and corn.
KARLA INGLE – Child and Family Advocate
Karla is a graduate of South Caldwell High School and has over 15 years of medical experience as a trained CNA and certified Medical Transcriptionist, and has extensive Office Administration experience. Karla has completed multiple national and state curriculi concerning advocacy for families experiencing the trauma of child maltreatment. Her caring and compassionate nature puts our families at ease, while her extensive knowledge of community resources and ability to meet our clients where they are ensures our clients receive the very best care and attention. She has been at Robin’s Nest since 2015.
APRIL JACOB – Medical Provider
April has 13 years of experience as a PA, most recently working with Southfork Medical Park. She is the only CMEP-Rostered medical provider in Caldwell County. A graduate of South Caldwell High School and Stanford University School of Medicine, she is a welcome addition to our team at Robin’s Nest. She has been working with Robin’s Nest since 2014 and has become a full staff person since 2018.
ANGIE GRAGG – Community Education and Outreach Specialist
Angie has 11 years of experience working with children as a site coordinator with Communities in Schools, where she worked with at-risk youth on developing coping strategies, study skills, and more. She has extensive public speaking and education skills which translate to a wonderful experience for students of our various programs, including our own Robins to the Rescue©. She has been at Robin’s Nest since early 2019.
