USE! Robin’s Nest Children’s Advocacy Center welcomes volunteers in various capacities. Although volunteer work directly with children and families is limited due to privacy expectations and requirements, there are ways to put your energies to work to assist the work of our center. If you believe, as we do, that the well-being of children is our joint responsibility, consider joining our work by volunteering in one or more of the following ways:
- SUSTAINABILITY ACTIVITIES. This is the most important way that the community can support services to child victims of abuse. It requires a quarter million dollars per year, at a minimum, to coordinate agency involvement and services as a children’s advocacy center. Sustainability volunteers work alongside RN Board Members to help us raise the necessary operating funding for each year. This volunteer work will keep our nonprofit cause alive for Caldwell County. Call 754-6262 to become a member of this extremely active group of Caldwell County citizens committed to fund-raising so that child abuse victims have vital services available to them locally. Three primary EVENTS that we sponsor each year include the Spring Soiree, Victory Classic Golf Tournament, and Holiday Tour of Homes – and it requires a strong group of volunteers to make each event happen.
- PARTNER FUND-RAISING. In addition to our major fund-raising events, we invite local organizations, churches, businesses, and individuals to organize and implement an event, with approval by the Robin’s Nest Board of Directors, that raises funds to support services at Robin’s Nest. An example is the Caldwell County School System’s annual “Change for Children” campaign, a period of two weeks during which students across the system may choose to donate their change to provide services to their peers who are sometimes treated unacceptably. Another example is making the “missions list” at area churches – For instance, Union Grove Baptist Church’s Vacation Bible School donations in 2012, based on their offerings for five nights of VBS, were given to Robin’s Nest. Every dollar makes a difference, and the ideas for ways to raise funds are endless. Call 754-6262 for information about how to sponsor a fund-raiser that benefits Robin’s Nest.
- ADDITION TO YOUR MISSIONS LIST. Several churches, agencies, and local foundations have added Robin’s Nest to their list of mission donations annually. That type of annual support makes a tremendous difference in our ability to continue offering services to child victims. We will be glad to make a presentation to your group about Robin’s Nest and provide printed materials, as well. Contact 754-6262 to ask for a presentation.
- HEALING HEARTS HELPERS. Opportunities exist for a limited number of volunteers to work on a regular basis at the Center in various capacities – such as welcomer, family room supervisor, or medical evaluation aide. The people serving in these roles require formal application to the Executive Director, criminal background check, and approval by the Board of Directors.
Other events will arise during the year that can use the physical and emotional investment of volunteers. Volunteers who will be working in the facility, even if not in close relationship with child clients, may also be asked to submit to a background check for the safety of our children and families.
