Meet Our Staff

SHELLIE BOWLIN – Executive Director

Shellie is a graduate of Guilford College with degrees in Psychology and Political Science, and a minor in Organizational Communications. She has 28 years’ experience working with  people across the age spectrum, including children with lived experience of maltreatment, at-risk youth, adults with severe & persistent mental illness, and the adults with dementia; and over 15 years’ experience with nonprofit leadership. Prior to accepting the Executive Director position at Robin’s Nest, she was the Program Director for the Wilkes County CAC, SAFE Spot. She has been at Robin’s Nest since 2017. On her free time, Shellie loves to process raw wool to spin into yarn, then knit or crochet. She also loves spending time outdoors with her husband, Shannon, camping, hiking, or simply sitting in the sun. They have 5 grown children, two grandkids, a big dog and two cats.

REBECCA DELLINGER – Executive Assistant / Finance Director

Rebecca has degrees in Business Administration and Business Communications and is currently working towards a Master’s Degree in Public Administration. She has 8 years of experience working with the at-risk population as a site coordinator with Communities in Schools. She enjoys working in the nonprofit sector with underserved populations. She began working at Robin’s Nest in 2021. Rebecca and her husband are proud to have a blended family of 8 children.

APRIL JACOB – Medical Director

April Jacob, MMS, PA-C is the medical provider at Robin’s Nest. She is a graduate of South Caldwell High School, The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and received her Physician Assistant training and degree from Stanford University School of Medicine. Prior to joining the Robin’s Nest, she practiced Family Medicine at Caldwell UNC Healthcare and has specialized training in the care of children who have been maltreated. She enjoys spending time with her family, reading, cooking, raising chickens and roller skating.

MELISSA DUNN – Child & Family Advocate 

Melissa is a graduate of Saint Petersburg High School in St. Petersburg Florida, Elon University and Campbell University. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Elon University in Psychology and a Masters of Education Counseling from Campbell University. She has over 30 years’ experience in services to children and families,. Prior to accepting the position at Robin’s Nest, she worked predominantly in the Caldwell County Schools as a school counselor with several years’ experience in non-profit program coordination and various mental health support roles. She and her husband of 33 years have two lovely daughters, 1 dog and 3 cats.

ANGIE GRAGG – Forensic Interviewer 

Angie Gragg lives in Caldwell County with her children and husband of 22 years. She spent six years with the Caldwell County school system before coming to Robin’s Nest. Angie is currently working on her degree in Public Health education from UNCG and for fun she enjoys performing in local theater productions.

JODIE COFFING – Therapy Coordinator / Billing Specialist 

Jodie graduated from West Caldwell high school. She has 9 years of experience in finance and customer service. She has been at Robin’s Nest since 2022. Jodie and her husband have 2 sons and a dog.

YRMA LOPEZ MILLER – Trauma Therapist

DAKOTA SAIN – Trauma Therapist 

Dakota is a graduate of Montreat College, where she earned her Masters Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Dakota has a passion for learning and working with children and adolescents. She has been working with children and adolescents in various non profit settings for 7 years ranging from intern, case management, peer support, residential placements, and therapy. A past intern of Robin’s Nest, Dakotahas been working for the organization as a therapist since 2022.  She strives to provide a safe space for children and adolescents to talk, process, and heal.
